Technology

Performance you can feel — and measure.

A garden room is only as good as its envelope and its foundations. Here's how we build ours, and why it matters.

Envelope

SIP construction

Structural insulated panels sandwich a rigid foam core between two engineered timber facings. The result is a continuous, air-tight envelope with U-values comparable to modern Passivhaus construction — without the on-site complexity.

Alternative system

Traditional timber frame

Where a site, design or planning brief calls for it, we also build in traditional stud timber frame — engineered to the same detailing standards, with high-performance insulation, breather membranes and vapour control. Slightly slower on site than SIP, equally well built, and a better fit for heritage settings, complex geometries or restricted-access sites.

Foundations

Ground screws

Galvanised steel screws driven directly into the ground replace concrete slabs — a genuinely eco-friendly foundation. Installed in a day, no curing time, minimal disruption to your garden, no concrete waste, and fully removable and recyclable at end of life.

Roof systems

Eco-friendly roof options

Whether mono-pitch, duo-pitch, flat or L-shaped, every roof we build is specified with high-performance insulation, responsibly sourced timber and low-impact membranes — and can be finished with sedum / green roofs or solar-ready detailing on request.

Sustainability

Eco conscious by design

Sustainability isn't a bolt-on for us — it's built into every stage of how we specify, deliver and install a Green & Glass room.

  • Eco-friendly vans

Our delivery and install fleet is transitioning to low-emission and electric vehicles to reduce the carbon footprint of every install.

  • Eco-friendly roof options

Sedum / green roofs, responsibly sourced timber, high-performance insulation and solar-ready detailing on request.

  • Ground screw foundations

No concrete, no curing, no waste. Fully removable and recyclable at end of life — the garden goes back to how it was.

  • Responsibly sourced materials

FSC / PEFC-certified timber, low-VOC finishes and recyclable cladding options across every build.

  • Energy-efficient envelope

SIP construction delivers Passivhaus-comparable U-values, cutting the energy your room uses year-round.

  • Minimal site waste

Panels are cut to order off-site, so on-site waste is negligible compared with traditional builds.
